Innocenti cars were produced by the Italian company founded in 1920. The firm was established by the businessman Ferdinando Innocenti in Milan. In the 1990s the brand was purchased by Fiat, and ceased to exist in 1997. Apart from the unusual exteriors, the cars had luxurious interiors and compact dimensions.

Technical specifications of Innocenticars

The first car, the A40, manufactured under the license on the platform of the same-name Austin model, rolled off the production line in 1960. It was equipped with a Ferrari 43 hp engine and could accelerate to 140 km/h. At the same time the vehicle was relatively inexpensive and affordable for young people.

As early as in the 1960s, the 950 Spyder S sports cabriolet got front brake discs. And the Mille 3- and 5-door hatchbacks were the first among Italian small cars to be equipped with power windows as standard.

The Mini 3-door hatchback, launched in 1974, was a stylish new product. Its body was created by the famous Italian designer Nuccio Bertone. The vehicle, which was a copy of the legendary same-name model of the British Motor Corporation, soon excelled its original. The interior of Innocenti cars was trimmed with natural wood, the floor was carpeted, and the exterior was finished with chromed elements. British cars had no trim components of this kind. The vehicles with Missoni velvet interior upholstery and sunroof were produced in limited series.

The most demanded was the Mini version with a 37 hp diesel engine. Moreover, the line-up of available engines included a petrol turbocharged power unit. It developed an output of 72 hp. It was a 3 cylinder engine produced by the Japanese company Daihatsu. Some versions manufactured in 1982–1993 were equipped with automatic transmissions.
