The vehicles were 3.23 metres in length, weighed 670 kg, and were characterized by agility and fuel efficiency. A version of the A112 Abarth with a sport exhaust system, two carburetors and an improved camshaft was popular on the Italian market. This car was equipped with a SOHC engine produced in Brazil, and with an IHI turbocharger. Its displacement was 1.05 litres, power output – 70 hp. The A112 often participated in various European car races, and was popular among young people.

The Y10 3-door hatchback (1985–1996) got a 1.0 litre FIRE engine. It had an overhead camshaft, aluminium cylinder head, and cast iron engine block. The engine was heat-resistant, durable, simple, and inexpensive in maintenance. In 1990 its displacement was increased to 1.1 litres in the LXie version, and to 1.3 litres – in the GTie. The former was equipped with the Selectronic stepless transmission. In 1986, the Y10 model was awarded the “European Car of the Year” title by a professional jury of automotive journalists from 22 countries.
