In European and North American countries, the system is connected to a navigator and makes driving in curves easier. Pilot Assist slows down the vehicle before a turn on the basis of the map data. This system is used at a speed of up to 130 km/h.

The cars have adaptive cruise control, which lets the driver select the desired speed (no more than 200 km/h) and time gap to the vehicle ahead. As soon as the radar identifies that the car ahead slows down, the Volvo car reduces speed automatically. The vehicle resumes the specified speed when the lane is clear.

If the vehicle has departed from its lane and is driving into a ditch, the Run-off Road Protection, receives corresponding data from special sensors and tightens the seat belts to keep the passengers in their seats efficiently.

The manufacturer cares about the environment as well. The XC40 crossover, equipped with all-wheel drive and 408 hp electric motor, was the first company’s electric vehicle. Starting from 2020, Volvo plans to release a new model of the electric car every year.
