Triumph cars were produced by the same-name car manufacturing company, which existed in 1885–1984. The headquarters was located in the very centre of Great Britain – in the City of Coventry. German businessmen Siegfried Bettmann and Moriz Schulte were originators of the company. From 1930 the firm focused on manufacturing luxury cars. Later, in the early 1950s, it specialised on sports car production. Since 1994, the brand has been owned by the German Automotive Group BMW.

Many of the Triumph cars were sold at affordable prices, but at the same time were rather comfortable. For example, a relatively inexpensive Spitfire 4 roadster (1962) was equipped with wind-up windows, which was unusual for cars of this price segment. Apart from this, the seats were adjustable by position, and the steering column – by height. The passenger compartment was fitted with rubber mats, which, for that time, was peculiar for luxurious vehicles.

The Acclaim saloons of the top trim level had power windows, headlight washers, and an air conditioner. The Avon Acclaim limited series included leather interior upholstery, wooden interior elements, a chromed radiator grille, and improved sound-proofing. In 1982 the model was recognized as a bestseller in Great Britain.
