Spare parts for your car
Vacuum line can be used in different systems of the vehicle, for instance, in the turbocharger or the central locking. Vacuum line is also necessary for brake booster, which works as a rule in cars with negative pressure. Negative pressure that is needed for brake booster is generated in diesel and petrol engines trough the vacuum pump direct injection. In traditional gasoline engines the required negative pressure starts in the intake manifold behind the throttle valve.
Vacuum line must be constructed to be able to withstand the respective negative pressure without losing its shape. In most cases a thick rubber tube is enough. When a high vacuum is created, an additional reinforcement is incorporated, for example fibre glass or steel. Vacuum line defect usually is the result of a faulty sealing. Therefore, the system malfunctions or fails. As a rule, it makes sense to replace a faulty vacuum line. All the gaskets should be replaced. Safety-critical systems, like brake system must be repaired in the repair shops.
A new vacuum line is relatively cheap. However, it is necessary to make sure that the line fits the specific vehicle. It is not recommended to install an improper vacuum line, just because the connectors fit. Thus you can disturb the whole system. In any case, if you need a high quality spare car part, you will easily find it in our online store of car parts. Do you need any car part? In out online shop you can find throttle sensor, injection valve, pendulum support, wishbone, bellow, camshaft and oil cooler. If you need spare car part for your car, our online shop is the right choice.
How to detect malfunction of vacuum brake booster
It is possible to check if the part works correctly without the experts’ help. For this, you need to start the engine and push the brake pedal 5-7 times listening to sounds. If air produces a soft noise, it means that the brake booster is depressurized.
Start the engine after bleeding air from the braking system. At switching on the ignition, the brake pedal must lift by 1-2 centimeters. If its position does not change, it is recommended to contact a service station for the more detailed check.
After that, perform one more experiment. You should push the brake pedal as far as it goes while the engine is working, after that shut it down and continue holding the pedal pressed for 1-2 minutes. If air ducts are damaged and the system is depressurized, then the back pressure in the pedal will sufficiently increase and you will need to apply more effort for pushing it.
You can notice that the Brake vacuum hose requires diagnostics by the following signs:
Causes of Brake booster vacuum hose malfunctions
The most malfunctions of the Vacuum hose, brake system are caused by its depressurization. Usually this happens due to mechanical damages, loosening of fastenings and clamps or natural wear of the rubber parts. Frequent driving in off-road conditions, which is accompanied by excessive vibrations and leads to increase of gaps between the component elements, displacement or jamming of valve stem, may also become the cause of the problem.
Sometimes improper operation of the unit may be caused by the non-return valve breakdown or membrane tearing. Usage of the low-quality sealing elements may also cause malfunctions: they usually crack or prematurely lose their elasticity.
If the vehicle construction includes the vacuum pump for creating vacuum, then its defect may cause frequent failures of the vacuum brake booster. Untimely activation of the pump creates excessive loads to a membrane and leads to its premature destruction.
Repair and replacement of the Brake vacuum hose
Repairs of the Brake booster vacuum hose should be performed only in those cases, when valves or the diaphragm are damaged slightly. For this, only original spare parts should be used. If general-purpose components are used, they should be additionally tested for compatibility.
If the casing is broken or there are more serious damages, the part must be replaced.
Before demounting the broken component, you should shut the engine down. For convenience, it is recommended to place the vehicle onto the lifting platform. First of all, disconnect the brake pedal link from the pedal. It is situated under the steering wheel shaft. Be careful not to damage the related mechanisms.
After that, you should unscrew mountings and dismantle the main brake cylinder. In conclusion, disconnect the vacuum hose from the valve. After that the damaged part is fully demounted, and the working one is installed to its place.
