Information
Master cylinder is a part of hydraulics. It creates a power that is transferred far through the hydraulic control into the clutch servo cylinder. This simple hydraulic principle is used in order power transfer to be realized. Master cylinder is smaller then servo cylinder that is why power intensification is during transmission. Master cylinder in the car is situated in the clutch. It is not so easy to find the cause of the problem in clutch as the hydraulic clutch is a complex system.
In the case when transmission engagement is difficult or there appear additional noises when clutching, the cause may be in the master cylinder. But you need to check everything very carefully before you change it. Not any car owner will manage to substitute it. It is service center who occupies with problems with clutch. It will cost expensive to substitute the hydraulic cylinder if it will appear that the cause is in something else. Moreover, this substitution costs a lot because hydraulic system is broken and must be placed in operation again.
The problem is that when working engine disturbs cylinder to work. Also for substitution it is necessary a definite experience and attention focusing. Car owner must address the service center in time if there is a problem with clutch. Otherwise, this breakdown may significantly worsen your car’s state. In our online shop you will find many other original car parts. Here you can find clutch plate, clutch cable linkage, brake shoes facing, clutch servo cylinder, ignition plugs, outside rear view mirrors, turn indicators and other car parts.
How to detect malfunctions of the Clutch cylinder
First, it should be visually inspected to detect any traces of leakage. If they are present, the system has lost tightness. If the pedal is too soft, air ingress into the system is very likely. To remove this fault, the system is to be bleeded according to a stepwise procedure. If this does not help, a more thorough repair of the cylinder should be done. In case of extraneous noise when gears are shifted and vibration of the gearshift lever, contact a service center for more thorough diagnostics. The fluid level should be checked regularly. Low fluid level means leakage. In this case, replacement of the piston and the cups may be required.
You may notice that the clutch master cylinder requires diagnostics by the following symptoms:
The reasons for the clutch master cylinder malfunctions
The most common malfunction of clutch master cylinder is depressurization. It occurs in case of wear, damage, or incorrect installation of connecting hoses and O-rings.
Due to the end of service life, springs of the component often need replacement. The pistons wear out, and may be damaged due to intensive mechanical effect.
The reasons of premature wear of the Clutch cylinder body are poor quality of the part and non-observance of maintenance schedule. The service life of the component also depends on the driving manner, and on observing the rules of system operation.
Replacing the Clutch cylinder
Replacing the component requires pumping the brake fluid out of the clutch fluid tank. Then disconnect the rubber belt that attaches the expansion tank to the body of the vehicle. Be careful when removing the tank, since it contains brake fluid. Next, unscrew the nut that attaches the pipeline to the cylinder. The next step is moving the pipeline aside by loosening the clamp and dismantling it from the cylinder. You should also unscrew the nuts that attach the cylinder to the car body. Now you can remove the old cylinder and install a new one. Assemble the mechanism in the reverse order.
