The Rover 800 saloon (XS): specifications
The length of the body was 4,882 mm, the width was 1,730 mm, and the height was 1,393 mm. The road clearance reached 145 mm. The volume of luggage compartment was 445 l.
The front axle of the car was equipped with ventilated brake discs. The rear one was equipped with non-ventilated components. The front suspension of the vehicle was independent, of the double wishbone type, while the rear one was semi-independent, of the coil spring type.
Main versions
There were seventeen front-wheel-drive versions of the Rover 800 saloons (XS). They had both petrol and diesel models.
The petrol 827 МТ model was the most powerful version. It was equipped with a 24-valve V6 engine with the displacement of 2.7 l and multipoint fuel injection system. The power unit produced 177 hp, with the maximum torque of 228 N⋅m at 4,500 RPM. The top speed of the car was 219 km/h. It accelerated from 0 to 100 kph in 8.6 seconds. The fuel consumption per 100 km was 12.3 l in the urban cycle, 7.4 l in the extra-urban cycle and 9 l in the combined cycle.
800 (XS) saloon trim levels
The manufacturer offered a base trim and several extended ones, for example, Si, Vitesse, Sterling. The factory-installed equipment of all Rover 800 saloons (XS; 1986–1999) had ABS, air conditioning, a car alarm as well as front airbags. There were also heated electric side mirrors and power windows. Apart from that, there were front fog lights and adjustable steering column.
The Sterling top trim level included cruise control, an audio system with a CD changer as well as a leather interior. The cars had front power seats and power sunroof as well.
