Spare parts for your car
Land Rover cars are top-class SUVs, which nowadays are produced by the British holding Jaguar Land Rover Limited. Factories of the company are located in Great Britain, Slovakia, Brazil, India and China. Since 2008 the company belongs to the largest Indian car manufacturing concern Tata Motors. The first vehicles of the brand were produced in Great Britain under the supervision of Spencer & Maurice Wilkes in 1948. The firm was quickly developing, and, according to its own researches, was selling every third SUV in the world by 1960s.
Technical specifications of Land Rover cars
From 1950, a part-time all-wheel drive became available. On the first vehicles, a special lever in the cabin was used for changing the modes. In 1969 the manufacturer busted the myth that SUVs have necessarily to be practical. The AWD Range Rover car produced at that time had a 135 hp V8 power unit, a spring suspension, and luxurious interior trimming. At the same time, the Defender, which was produced in 1983–2016 without significant alterations, was considered an old-fashioned SUV.
The Terrain Response system adjusts many of the car’s systems in accordance with the road conditions, while the electronically-controlled active differential prevents the wheels from spinning. As a result, reliable road grip is ensured, and off-road performance is improved. In particular, these technologies are used on the Land Rover Defender L316. It can ford up to 90 cm of water. For this purpose, the Evoque II crossovers of the 2019 model range are equipped with the Wade Sensing sensor which measures the wade depth. The device informs the driver about the surrounding water level in online mode.
The Adaptive Dynamics suspension control system constantly monitors the position of the steering wheel and other parameters during driving, and adjusts the stiffness of the shock absorbers. For instance, it is used on the Discovery Sport L550 model.
Matrix LED headlights don’t dazzle drivers of oncoming vehicles, and can automatically switch between the low and high beam. High-resolution head-up display shows the vehicle speed, engaged gear, navigation map, and other information on the windscreen. As a result, the driver is getting less distracted from the road. Both options are offered on the Discovery Sport L550 SUV. Also available is Tow Assist which helps to tow a trailer when moving in reverse: the vehicle’s path is displayed on the dashboard touchscreen.
The manufacturer cares about the environment and implements technologies which reduce the amount of hazardous emissions. Among them is the ERAD electric rear axle drive. It allows to drive the car for some time without starting the engine. The system was introduced on the Freelander L359 crossover.
