Diagnostics

The approximate time of main steel (with addition of aluminum) silencer usage doesn't exceed two-three years. After that we don’t recommend to use this part. Obstructions in the punched tubes reduce the capacity of the silencer and don't allow exhaust gases to leak outside. Due to this, pressure in the tubes increases and leads to engine temperature rising.

Main silencer repair and replacement

Minor physical damages or small gashes of the body can be repaired by the ordinary tools for welding. But such measure is temporary as it is required to carry out full replacement of a part in the shortest terms.

It is sufficient to disconnect the silencer clamp and the oxidation catalyst fastener in order to replace broken component. Then it is necessary to remove gaskets, dismantle buffers, oxidation catalysts and the silencer. The procedure won't take a lot of time if you follow sequence of steps and act carefully. To restore the work of exhaust system, it is often sufficient to connect the silencer correctly.

Installation of the silencer demands special attention. This component can damage systems adjoining to it as it is strongly heated when operating. It is important to check seating of the silencer on buffers and the supporting bracket. Also it shouldn't contact other parts of the car which are next to it.
