Subaru Outback II (BH) cars are estate cars of high off-road performance produced from 1999 to 2003. They were built on the basis of the third generation Legacy cars but differed in body size and road clearance height. They were characterized by practicality, attractive design and rich equipment. Subaru Outback II (BH) technical specifications
Subaru Outback II (BH) cars had the following dimensions: length, width and height were 4720 mm, 1745 mm and 1580 mm respectively. The interior was spacious enough to accommodate a driver and 4 passengers. Volume of the luggage compartment varied from 528 to 1646 litres. The backrests of the rear seats were folded in the proportion of 60/40, which was convenient for transporting long items.
Road clearance height was 190 mm. A plastic body kit was mounted all around the body; it protected the body from various damages during off-road driving. Its colour could be either the same as the body colour or had a contrast tint which enriched the vehicle exterior with common for crossovers and off-roaders style .
Both suspensions were independent: the front one was of MacPherson type, and the rear – of the multi-link type. The front car axle was equipped with ventilated brake discs. Non-ventilated components were used on the rear axle.

5 versions of Subaru Outback II (BH) were produced during the years of manufacture. All of them had all-wheel drive. They could be equipped with a 5-speed manual or 4-speed automatic gearbox.
3.0 H6 AWD version had balanced characteristics. The engine had 6 cylinders and 24 valves with 209 hp output and 282 Nm torque. Acceleration to 100 km/h took 8.9 seconds. The top speed was 210 km/h. Fuel consumption was 15.3 litres per 100 km in the urban cycle, 7.8 litres in the extra-urban cycle and 10.5 litres in the combined cycle. Maximum loading capacity was 600 kg. The timing mechanism of this version had a highly-reliable low-maintenance chain.
Outback II (BH) trim levels
Even the basic trims of Subaru Outback II (BH) estate cars were equipped with anti-lock braking system, stability control system, front airbags and self-levelling suspension. There was the driver’s power seat with lumbar support. It was heated, as well as the front passenger seat. The rear seats were equipped with headrests. The interior was trimmed with leather and decorated with wooden inserts. The side mirrors were powered and heated. Cruise and climate control systems were also factory-installed. The car was equipped with front and rear power windows.
