Subaru Legacy IV (BP) technical specifications
Subaru Legacy IV (BP) estate cars were 4720 mm long, 1730 mm wide and 1470 mm high. Volume of the luggage compartment varied from 459 to 1628 litres. Road clearance was 150 mm.
The car still had front and rear independent suspensions, but they became stiffer, thus, ensuring better steerability. Many body elements, including bonnet and rear doors, were made of aluminium, which helped to reduce the weight of the vehicle.
The front car axle was equipped with ventilated brake discs. Non-ventilated components were used on the rear axle.
Main versions
About 20 versions of Subaru Legacy IV (BP) were produced for all the time. Apart from petrol engines, this line included diesel ones. This was the world’s first boxer diesel engine designed for passenger cars. The versions with this power unit were shown for the first time at the Geneva Motor Show in 2008.
2.0R MT version was one of the most popular. It was equipped with 4-cylinder 16-valve engine with multi-point fuel injection, 5-speed manual transmission and full-time all-wheel drive system. The car had good off-road performance and great dynamics. It accelerated to 100 km/h in 9.8 seconds. The top speed was 204 km/h. Fuel consumption was 12.4 litres, 9 litres and 7 litres in the urban, combined and extra-urban cycles respectively. The carrying capacity was 570 kg.
16-inch alloy wheel rims with low-profile tyres were available for this version.
Legacy IV (BP) trim levels
Numerous trim levels were offered for Legacy IV (BP) cars. The most popular trims were Comfort, Luxury, Executive. Special equipment was offered for cars of limited series, such as Exclusive Edition, GT, GT B4, Blitzen, WR-Limited, etc.
The car was rich in features. The Executive trim estate cars were equipped with anti-lock braking system with brakeforce distribution, stability and traction control systems, front and side airbags, as well as curtain airbags, dual-zone climate control. The seats had a wide range of adjustments and the position memory function. There was an interior leather upholstery and automatically folded power side mirrors. Audio system with CD changer was factory-supplied. The headlights had xenon lights bulbs.
