Subaru Vivio (KK) technical specifications
The car was 3295 mm long, 1395 mm wide and 1375 mm high. The interior was five-seater. The volume of the luggage compartment was only 106 litres. But it could be increased to 834 litres by folding the rear seats. Road clearance of the hatchback was 150 mm. All these features together with all-wheel drive (available in some versions) provided the vehicle with good off-road performance.
Both suspensions were independent: the front was of the MacPherson type, and the rear – of the double wishbone type. Front wheels were equipped with brake discs, while the rear ones were equipped with drums.
If the driver wanted to access the rear seats of the 3-door hatchback, he had to move the front seat forward as much as possible and bend its backrest.
Main versions
A small amount of versions of Subaru Vivio (KK) hatchbacks was produced during the years of manufacture. All of them were equipped with petrol engines of 660 cc capacity. Some of them could be turbocharged. Three gearboxes were offered: 5-speed manual, 3-speed automatic and continuously variable transmission.
The hatchbacks of GLi trim were equipped with 4-cylinder 8-valve engine with 44 hp output. Its maximum torque was 53 N⋅m. It was reached at 3600 rpm. The car accelerated to 100 km/h in 16 seconds. Its top speed was 138 km/h. Fuel consumption in the urban cycle was 8 litres per 100 km, 5.2 litres in the extra-urban cycle and 6.2 litres in the combined cycle. Maximum loading capacity was 465 kg. The car had front-wheel drive.
Vivio (KK) trim levels
Subaru Vivio (1992–1998) cars had minimalistic equipment. Their rear seats were folding partially. The dashboard was equipped with odometer and an outdoor temperature sensor. The intermittent windscreen wiper blades were offered as well. The bumpers were painted in the body colour. The windows were tinted. Metallic body painting could be ordered for an extra fee.
Limited series of the hatchbacks, Bistro, was released in 1995. These cars had a retro-style exterior and resembled black cabbies – the icon of the Great Britain’s capital.
