Subaru Justy II (JMA, MS) hatchbacks were 3845 mm long, 1590 mm wide and 1380 mm height. The interior was five-seater. Volume of the luggage compartment was 250–900 litres. Road clearance was 155 mm.
Both suspensions were independent: the front one was of MacPherson type, and the rear – of the multi-link type. They perfectly absorbed road irregularities; at the same time, the car maintained stability at cornering. Only the front car axle was equipped with brake discs, while the rear one was equipped with drums.
The hatchbacks were characterized by small weight which varied from 865 to 915 kg depending on the version and equipment.
Main versions
Only two versions of Subaru Justy II (JMA, MS) were presented for all the time. Both of them had petrol power units and all-wheel drive.
1.3 GXE AWD version produced in 1997 was equipped with 4-cylinder 8-valve engine of 68 hp output. Its torque was 99 N⋅m. It was reached at 3500 rpm. It took 14.2 seconds for the car to reach 100 km/h speed. Its top speed was 155 km/h. Fuel consumption was rather low: 6 litres per 100 km in the extra-urban cycle, 6.9 litres in the combined cycle, 8.6 litres in the urban cycle. The carrying capacity was 450 kg. All-wheel drive system automatically engaged the rear axle at front wheels skidding. The car had a 5-speed manual gearbox.
Justy II (JMA, MS) trim levels
Subaru Justy II (JMA, MS) hatchbacks had GX and GXE trim levels. Equipment was minimalistic.
The car of GXE had bumpers painted in the body colour. A tachometer was installed on the dashboard. The rear seats had proportionally-folding backrests. The cars had power side mirrors, intermittent windscreen wiper blades and front power windows. A central locking with keyless entry system was included into the factory-supplied equipment. Metallic body paint and air-conditioner could be ordered for an extra fee.
