Before the facelift in 1983, the saloon had the following dimensions: 4160 mm, 1595 mm and 1400 mm in length, width and height respectively. Road clearance was 170 mm. The capacity of the luggage compartment was 280 litres. But it could be up to 400 litres in versions with folding rear seats. After the facelift, the length and width of the car increased to 4200 mm and 1510 mm, respectively.
Both suspensions were independent: the front – with MacPherson struts, the rear – with swing axles. Front brakes were disc-type, the rear ones – drum-type.
The engine was mounted in the rear part of the car. This vehicle was rear-wheel-drive. But, unlike most cars of that time, the radiator was mounted in the front, thus ensuring better engine cooling.

4 versions of Škoda 105/120 (742) were produced during the manufacturing period. All of them were equipped with petrol carburetted engines.
A 45 hp 4-cylinder 8-valve engine was installed on 105 S version. It had the maximum torque of 75 N⋅m. It was reached at 3000 rpm. The saloon accelerated to 100 km/h in 23 seconds. Its top speed reached 135 km/h. Maximum loading capacity of the version was 373 kg. Average fuel consumption was 7.9 litres per 100 km. The transmission was manual and had 4 speeds.

Škoda 105/120 (742) saloons were produced in the following trim levels: S, L, GL, SP, LE, LS, GLS, GL, LX, Sport and Target.
The car was equipped rather well for its time. Faux leather was used for interior trimming. The rear seats with folding backs were rarely met in cars of that time. The front seats could also have folding backs. The rear window could be heated. A tachometer was installed in more expensive trims, and the seats were equipped with headrests.
