Technical characteristics of Renault Kangoo I Express (FC0/1_)
Renault Kangoo I Express panel vans were 3995 mm long, 1672 mm wide and 1830 mm high. Body dimensions changed slightly after the restyling in 2003: its length, width and height became 4035 mm, 2031 mm and 1800 mm respectively. Depending on the version, road clearance equalled 140–200 mm. The cargo compartment capacity was 3.0 m3. There was also an extended (to 4320 mm) van with 3.5 m3 cargo compartment.
The rear door was conventional, with two leaves opening at 180°. Moreover, access to the cargo compartment was provided by side doors. They could be situated on one or both car sides.
Both suspensions were independent. The front axle of the vehicle was equipped with brake discs, the rear one – with drums.
Main versions
Over 20 versions of Renault Kangoo Express (1997‒2010) were produced during the manufacturing period. Apart from petrol and diesel versions, dual-fuel vans were offered for customers – they used LPG as additional fuel. In addition, electric versions were especially popular. As a rule, the torque was transferred to the front wheels. But the line included panel vans with all-wheel drive.
The 1.9 TD 4WD version belonged to the latter category. A turbocharged 80 hp power engine was installed on it. Its max torque was 180 N⋅m, reached at 2000 rpm. The car needed 16.2 seconds to reach 100 km/h. Its top speed equalled 142 km/h. Fuel consumption was 9.3 litres in the urban cycle, 6.3 litres – in the extra-urban cycle and 7.4 litres – in the combined cycle. The loading capacity of the car equalled 500 kg.
Due to automatic all-wheel drive, the car had good off-road performance. At the same time, in the city it preserved fuel-efficiency and comfort of a van with only one drive axle.
Trim levels of Kangoo I Express (FC0/1_)
Depending on the version and production year, the panel vans could have factory-installed driver airbag, seat belts with pretensioners, front central armrest, audio-system with two speakers, CD-changer, central locking with remote control, and immobilizer. Additional paid options included an air conditioner and power windows.
