Technical specifications of Mercedes-Benz S124
The S124 car (1985–1996) was 4,765 mm long, 1,740 mm wide, 1,490 mm high. The road clearance was 160 mm. To maintain it at the set level regardless of road conditions and load, the rear suspension was of a hydraulic type. The luggage compartment volume was 530 litres. It could be increased to 2,175 litres by folding the rear seats backrests.

About 100 versions of Mercedes-Benz S124 (1985–1996) were produced during the manufacturing time. 26 petrol and 10 diesel versions were produced before the restyling in 1989; 26 petrol and 14 diesel versions - in 1989–1993 period; 11 petrol and 10 diesel versions - from 1993 to 1996.
The E 250 TD MT diesel version was one of the most fuel-efficient ones. It was equipped with a 5-cylinder 10-valve 126 hp engine with a turbocharger. The car accelerated to 100 km/h in 12.6 seconds and reached the maximum speed of 190 km/h. Fuel consumption was reduced by 8% in comparison with estates of previous generations and was 10.1 litres per 100 km in urban cycle, 6.2 litres – in extra-urban, and 8.4 litres – in combined. The amount of harmful emissions into the atmosphere was considerably reduced - by more than one third - due to installation of a catalytic converter.
S124 trim levels
The Mercedes-Benz S124 estate cars had a rich standard equipment list. Depending on the version, they could be equipped with front airbags, anti-lock braking system, cruise control, air conditioner or dual-zone climate control, power steering and other equipment. Many components and mechanisms such as mirrors, seats, luggage compartment lid, windows were electric-driven.
For an extra charge one could order tinted windows, heated seats, roof hatch, 16- or 17-inch alloy wheel rims. Moreover, the Sportline package was offered, which included a stiffer suspension, low road clearance, wide tyres and some other features.
