MAZDA RX-7 II Coupe (FC) cars: technical specifications, versions and trim levels
Mazda RX-7 (FC) 4-seat coupe was produced from 1985 till 1991 and restyled in 1989. Creating the novelty, the designers were guided mostly by American customers’ needs. Such an approach was inspired by the popularity of the previous generation of the model in North America. The new vehicle quickly became popular as well - due to its sportive exterior, well-balanced characteristics of the suspension, and a relatively low weight. In Japan, versions with low displacement engines were popular, as they allowed their owners to reduce tax expenses. In 1986 the car was awarded the “Import Car of the Year” title by the American magazine “Motor Trend”, and a year later it entered the best cars list according to the American magazine “Car and Driver”.
