Technical specifications of Mazda 2 (DE) hatchback
Before 2010, the car body length was 3,885 mm, the width – 1,695 mm, the height – 1,475 mm. After the restyling, the length increased to 3,920 mm, the rest parameters didn’t change. The road clearance amounted to 150 mm. The max loading capacity of the car didn’t exceed 450 kg. The luggage compartment volume was 250 litres, and could be increased to 787 litres with folded rear seats.
Ventilated brake discs were installed on the front axle. Drum mechanism was used on the rear axle.
Main versions
The manufacturer offered more than 10 front-wheel driven versions of the Mazda 2 (2007–2014) hatchback. Most of them were petrol, but diesel versions were also present.
The 1.6 MZ-CD MT was one of the most fuel-efficient versions. This car was equipped with a 4-cylinder 8-valve in-line turbocharged diesel engine. The output of the power unit was 95 hp. The max torque of 205 Nm was reached at 3,000 rpm. The car accelerated to 175 km/h. It was characterized by very good fuel efficiency. So, for covering 100 km in urban cycle the car consumed 5 litres of fuel, 3.7 litres – in extra-urban cycle and 4.2 litres – in combined cycle.
Trim levels of 2 (DE) hatchback
Many trim levels were offered during the manufacturing period. They included TS, SE, Colour Edition, Direct, Sport, Energy, City Line, Cosmo Edition, Tamura, Takuya, Venture and others.
All trim levels had an anti-lock braking system, airbags for the driver and front passenger, power mirrors. An extended trim level, City Line, included also 16-inch Bright painted alloy wheel rims and halogen headlights. In order to improve the interior comfort, it was equipped with heated seats and an audio system with CD and MP3 support. Moreover, 2 (DE) hatchbacks in the City Line trim level got an electric power steering and a trip computer. Also, the electronic brake force distribution (EBD) system was installed in the car. Apart from the front airbags, side ones were offered. Such features as the roof spoiler, trim covers on the bumpers, door sills, side mirrors, were optional.
