The body had the following dimensions: length – 4,215, width – 1,675, height – 1,440 mm. The ride height was 165 mm. The luggage compartment volume reached 449 litres and could be increased up to 1277 litres with the rear seats folded.
After restyling, the car became 25 mm longer and 5 mm wider. The height was reduced by 20 mm, and the ground clearance - by 13. All other characteristics remained the same.
The front axle of the car was equipped with ventilated brake discs. The rear one was fitted with drum brakes. The front suspension was independent, of McPherson type, while the rear one was dependent with a torsion beam.
Main versions
There were five versions of Kia Rio I estate cars (DC). These were petrol, front-wheel drive models.
The efficient 1.3 МТ version was equipped with a 4-cylinder, 8-valve straight engine with multi-point fuel injection. The power unit produced 82 hp, its maximum torque was 116 N·m at 3,000 rpm. The fuel consumption per 100 km was 8.8 litres in the urban cycle, 5.4 litres in the extra-urban and 7.1 litres in the combined cycle. The maximum speed of the car reached 165 kph. It accelerated from 0 to 100 kph in 14.3 seconds.
Rio I estate car (DC) trim levels
The manufacturer offered both the base trim and the extended ones: L, LE, Ice, Ice+, LX, LE+, SE. All Rio I estate cars (2000–2005) were equipped with a driver’s airbag, hydraulic power steering, power side mirrors and front power windows. ABS, interior trimmed with artificial leather, air conditioning, an audio system with four speakers as well as heated seats were offered for an extra fee. The SE top trim level included air conditioning, rear power windows, central locking system and heated side mirrors.
