KIA Sportage III (SL) cars: technical specifications, versions and trim levels
Kia Sportage III (SL) cars are crossovers produced at the plants owned by the South Korean Kia Motors Corporation from 2010 to 2015. They are still manufactured in China. These five-seat vehicles were presented at the Geneva Motor Show in 2010. In 2011, they won the “Top Safety Pick” award from the American Insurance Institute for Highway Safety. The same year, these vehicles were awarded with the “Red Dot Design” prize established by the German Design Zentrum Nordrhein Westfalen as well as the “International Car of the Year” title according to the American magazine Road & Travel. Kia Sportage III (SL) technical specifications
The initial dimensions of the vehicle were the following: the length was 4,440 mm, the width was 1,855 mm, the height was 1,635 mm. The ride height was 172 mm. Depending on the position of passenger seats, the volume of luggage compartment varied from 564 to 1,353 litres.
The height of the restyled car decreased by 5 mm, the ground clearance was 167 mm. All other parameters remained the same.
The manufacturer used an independent suspension system: the front one was of MacPherson type, while the rear one — of multi-link type. The front axle was equipped with ventilated brake discs, the rear one – with non-ventilated ones.
Main versions
There were about 20 versions of Kia Sportage III (SL). The manufacturer offered both petrol and diesel crossovers. They might have either front-wheel or part-time all-wheel drive.
One of the most powerful versions was a diesel 2.0 CRDi AT AWD. It was equipped with a 4-cylinder, 16-valve straight engine with a turbocharger and Common Rail system. It was a 184 hp engine with the maximum torque of 392 N·m at 2,500 rpm. The maximum speed of the vehicle was 195 kph. The car accelerated from 0 to 100 kph in 9.8 seconds. The fuel consumption of the vehicle per 100 km was 8.8 litres in the urban cycle, 5.7 litres in the extra-urban cycle and 6.9 litres in the combined cycle.
Sportage III (SL) trim levels
There were several trim levels offered: 1, S, KX-1, KX-2, 2, 3, KX-3, SE, 4, KX-4, Black, White, Axis White, SX, Alpine. Kia Sportage III crossovers (2010–2015) were factory-equipped with traction control, front and side airbags, cruise control. Their base trim also included front fog lights, a car alarm system, a sound system and heated power side mirrors.
The KX-4 extended trim included a sat nav, sunroof, parking sensors, headlight washers, heated seats. Leather-trimmed interior and roof racks were offered as optional extras.
