AUDI TT Roadster (8N9) cars: technical specifications, versions and trim levels
The Audi TT 8N9 vehicles are the first generation of two-seat roadsters manufactured between 1999 and 2006. Built on the coupe base, this car had a soft fabric roof which was retracted by pressing a button in the cabin and was characterised by excellent dynamics and a high level of safety. In order to make driving at a high speed with retracted roof stable, the roadster was fitted with a special wind deflector. Durable aluminium frame placed behind the seats gave additional protection to the driver and passenger. The roadster received a high four-star rating when it passed the EuroNCAP tests in 2003. You can buy Audi TT 8N9 parts in our online shop. We offer affordable prices and significant discounts for all components. Besides, ordering several spares together, for example, brake callipers and brake pads, you can pay half the delivery fee.
The technical specifications of the Audi TT 8N9
The length of the Audi TT 8N9 roadster was 4,041 mm, its width was 1,764 mm and the height was 1,359 mm. Behind the seats, there was a special hermetically sealed compartment where the retracted roof was placed. Due to it, the capacity of the luggage compartment was 220 liters regardless of whether the roof was opened or not. The ride height of 130 mm provided excellent road performance and vehicle stability going at high speeds. After the facelift of 2002, the luggage compartment was reduced up to 180 l.
Main versions
The range of the Audi TT 8N9 versions included cars with petrol engines only: overall, 14 variants. The most powerful was 3.2 quattro DSG.
Its 6-cylinder, 24-valve V engine with the torque of 320 Н⋅м had the output of 250 hp and the number of revolutions might be 6,200 per minute. The carrying capacity of the version was 300 kg. The acceleration to 100 km/h took only 6.6, the fuel consumption was 13 l per 100 km in the urban area, 9.9 l in the mixed cycle and 7.7 l on a highway.
The multipoint fuel injection provided the steady engine running, helped to increase its power output and reduce fuel consumption. The quattro all-wheel drive was responsible not only for road grip on slippery surfaces but also improved cornering of the vehicle while manoeuvring. The 6-speed brand DSG transmission guaranteed instant gear driving mode change.
The trim packages of the TT (the 8N9)
Apart from the basic trim, the Advance package was available for the TT, 8N9 (1999–2006) roadsters. The range of standard equipment was huge and depending on the version might include anti-lock braking system with the electronic brakeforce distribution system, electronic stability program, front and side airbags, active headrests, onboard computer, climate and cruise controls, electrically adjustable heated mirrors. One could also order a navigation system, electrically adjustable driver's seat and 18-inch wheels for an extra charge.
