AUDI TT Coupe (8N3) cars: technical specifications, versions and trim levels
The Audi TT 8N3 vehicles are sports four-seat coupe manufactured between 1998 and 2006. It was the first model of the German company with the body made using the seamless laser welding technology. In 2000, the coupe got the second place in the competition called North American car of the year. It was also among the ten best cars according to the famous American Car and Driver magazine for two years in a row, in 2000 and 2001. In the same 2001, it received the title of the best coupe according to the British Top Gear editors of which highly appreciated the stylish design of the car and general impressions of driving it. The technical specifications of the Audi TT 8N3
The car was 4,041 mm long, 1,764 mm wide and 1,346 mm high. The capacity of the luggage compartment varied within a range of 270–540 l depending on the configuration of the rear seats. The ride height was 130 mm.
Main versions
The range of the available versions was presented only by cars with petrol engines: 7 – before the facelift of 2003; 8 – after it. One of the fastest is the 1.8 T quattro MT (240 hp) version.
Substituting the standard rear seats with lighter Recaro sports seats and getting rid of the rear shock absorber, air conditioning and spare, the manufacturers managed to reduce the weight of the coupe by 75 kg. This allowed increasing the engine output up to 240 hp and the torque up to 320 Н⋅м. The car accelerated from o-100 km/h in 5.9 seconds and its maximum speed reached 250 km/h. In order to distribute the weight evenly, the battery was also placed at the rear end of the car.
The carrying capacity of the version reached 385kg and the average fuel consumption per 100 km in the urban area was 13.2 l, in the mixed cycle – 9.3 l, on a highway – 7 l of petrol. 6-speed mechanical transmission help to change driving modes fast.
The car body was painted two colours. The sporty nature of the car was emphasised by red brake callipers, 18-inch alloy 15-spoke wheels and black exhaust pipes.
The trim packages of the Audi TT 8N3
Apart from the base trim, the Audi TT (1998–2006) coupes were available with the Advance package. This set of car equipment included 6 airbags, traction control and anti-lock braking system with the electronic brakeforce distribution system, tachometer, climate control, heated sports seats trimmed with leather and leather steering wheel adjustable in two directions. For an extra charge, they also offered xenon headlights, ISOFIX child seat fittings, navigational system, electric sunroof, CD-changer and 18-inch alloy wheels.
