Technical characteristics of Volkswagen Transporter V 7HA, 7HH, 7EA, 7EH

As the previous generation cars, the vehicle was available in four-door body with the lifting or swing rear door. But instead of two variants of roof height, it was offered with four of them, and also the wheelbase was either short or long. Vans with the short wheelbase were indexed as SWB and were 4890 mm in length, with the long wheelbase – LWB – 5290 mm. Car width was 1904 mm regardless of modification, while height could be 1960, 1990, 2176 or 2476 mm. Road clearance increased to 165 mm. Luggage compartment volume depended on body configuration and could reach 9300 liters. Car dimensions hardly changed after restyling in 2010.

Main modifications

More than 100 modifications of Volkswagen Transporter V 7HA, 7HH, 7EA, 7EH (2003–2015) were produced during manufacturing years: 43 diesel and 21 petrol ones before restyling, and 25 petrol, 45 diesel after that.

Together with production of the fifth generation, new engines were added to the power units line. One of them was installed on 2.0 BiTDI MT L2H2 modification. It developed power of 180 hp and could accelerate the car to 100 km/h in 9.9 seconds, the maximum speed of the car was 191 km/h. It was possible due to double turbocharging which improved vehicle dynamics and increased engine power. Common Rail fuel injection system also provided power rise, high torque and fuel consumption reduction. To cover 100 km distance on the highway, 6.4 liters of fuel were required, 7.5 in combined cycle, and 9.5 liters in the city.

Transporter (2003–2015) vans had rich configuration. Even in basic configuration they were equipped with power steering, electric window raisers, heated nozzles, cabin filter, three-point safety belts with pretensioners, heated power exterior mirrors and various electronic systems: ABS, traction control system and brake assist system, etc. There were more equipment in Trendline, Highline, Comfortline and Sportline configurations.
