Technical specifications of Volkswagen Passat 3C5

Passat 3C5 (2005–2010) estate was notable for quite large dimensions. Its length was 4774 mm, width – 1820 mm, height – 1517 mm. Thanks to this, cars had spacious cabin and capacious luggage compartment, volume of which reached 1731 litres. Even with unfolded rear seats dimensions of the luggage compartment were impressive – 603 litres. Ride height was 114 mm for most configurations, but reached 130 mm for some 4-wheel drive estates. Vented brake discs were used for the car’s front axle, and solid – for the rear one.

Main modifications

34 modifications of Volkswagen Passat 3C5 estate were released during manufacturing years: 20 petrol and 14 diesel ones. The most powerful of them was the R36 modification with a 3.6L engine, proprietary semi-automatic gearbox and all-wheel drive. The 6-cylinder engine with direct injection developed up to 300 hp. Its rotation speed reached 6600 rpm. A 4-wheel drive system, which efficiently distributed the torque between front and rear car’s axles, affected the car dynamics: the 1.8 ton car accelerated to 100 km/h in just 5.8 seconds. Maximum speed, which the estate could attain, was 250 km/h.

The 6-speed semi-automatic DSG transmission allowed to reduce fuel consumption by 30% compared to regular automatic transmission. The direct injection system permitted to improve engine fuel efficiency. As a result, 14.7 litres of fuel were needed to travel 100 km in the city, 10.5 litres – in a combined cycle, and only 8.1 litres – on the highway.
