Golf IV 1J5 1,6 FSI MT is considered to be one of the most successful model modifications; it was the only one equipped with FSI fuel injection system. This car with 110 hp engine was able to accelerate to 194 km/h. It reached 100 km/h speed in 11.7 seconds. Fuel consumption was 8.1 liters per 100 km in the city, 6.3 – in combined cycle, and only 5.3 liters on the highway. Maximum loading capacity of this car was 605 kg.
An FSI direct injection fuel system with two circuits provided maximally efficient fuel spraying right into the combustion chamber. This permitted to improve dynamic characteristics of Volkswagen Golf IV 1J5 cars, and to reduce fuel consumption and the amount of harmful substances in exhaust gases. Pressure in the system was regulated according to road conditions, which allowed to select optimal balance between engine dynamics and fuel-efficiency.
