SEAT Ibiza II (6K2) hatchbacks were 3877 mm long, 1640 mm wide and 1422 mm high. The boot capacity varied from 250–782 litres, depending on the rear seat configuration. Ground clearance was 150 mm. It could seat a driver and four passengers.
The front suspension was independent with MacPherson struts; the rear suspension semi-independent. The car was characterized by stability, maneuverability and good steerability. Brake discs were installed on the vehicle front axle. The rear axle was often equipped with drums.
Main versions
Ten versions of SEAT Ibiza II (6K2) were produced during the manufacturing period. The cars had diesel and petrol engines. All of them were front-wheel-drive.
The 1.6 MPI 100 hp petrol version was one of the most common. It was equipped with a 4-cylinder 8-valve engine with multi-point fuel injection and 4-speed automatic transmission. The maximum torque of the car was 145 N⋅m. Acceleration from 0-100 km/h took 12.5 seconds. The top speed was 184 km/h. Fuel consumption was 6.5 litres per 100 km in the extra-urban cycle, 8.4 litres in the combined cycle and 11.7 litres in the urban cycle. The maximum loading capacity of this version was 481 kg.
SEAT Ibiza II (6K2) trim levels
Depending on the market and production year, SEAT Ibiza II (6K2) hatchbacks were available in such trim levels as Entry, S, SE, SX, Award, Stella, Signo, Sport, Cupra, Cupra R and others.
The Cupra R sport version had the most features. It was equipped with an anti-lock braking system with force distribution, stability and traction control systems, a differential lock, front and side airbags, tachometer, audio system, voice input function, central locking, cruise- and climate-control, and fog lights.
This trim included sports seats. The driver’s seat was height-adjustable. Leather interior trimming was an optional extra.
The exterior reflected the sporty spirit of this version, with alloy wheel rims, low-profile 16-inch tyres, and 4-piston Brembo brake calipers, finished in red. The seat belts were the same colour.
