Technical characteristics of Renault Scénic I (JA0/1)
The minivans were 4168 mm long, 1698 mm wide and 1675 mm high. Depending on the rear seat arrangement, the luggage compartment capacity could be from 410 to 1800 litres. Road clearance equalled 120 mm.
One of the main advantages of these cars was a spacious interior. There was plenty of space on both the front and rear seats. Folding tables were installed in the backs of front seats. Moreover, rear seats were separate. If necessary, they could be removed individually.
The front suspension was independent, MacPherson type, the rear – semi-independent with a twist-beam. Both front and rear axles of the vehicle carried brake discs.
Main versions
About 20 versions of Renault Scénic I (JA0/1) (1999–2003) were produced over the years. Petrol, diesel and dual-fuel versions were among them. Most of the cars had front-wheel drive. But there were all-wheel-drive minivans as well.
For instance, the RX4 1.9 dCi version had all-wheel drive. It was equipped with a 4-cylinder 8-valve turbocharged engine with direct fuel injection. It produced the torque of 200 N⋅m and outputted 105 hp. The car accelerated to 100 km/h in 14.8 seconds. Its maximum speed reached 160 km/h. Fuel consumption was 6.6 litres in the urban cycle, 7.4 litres – in the combined cycle and 8.9 litres – in the extra-urban cycle. The loading capacity of this version reached 550 kg. The rear axle was engaged automatically via a centre differential with viscous multi-disc coupling. This vehicle had a stronger suspension compared to front-wheel-drive versions.
