Initially, a three-door version of the car had the following dimensions: the length was 4,140, the width was 1,695, the height was 1,440 and the ride height was 140 mm. The maximum load capacity was 451 kg. The boot capacity reached 315 l and with rear seats folded, it was 610 l. The length, width and height of the five-door car were 4,285, 1,695, and 1,495 mm respectively. The maximum load capacity was 461 kg. Boot capacity was 125 l, and with rear seats folded, it was 732 l.
After the facelift, the length of the three-door body became shorter up to 4,135 mm, the height became 1430 mm and the width was 1,695 mm. The ride height became 10 mm lower. Other parameters remained the same. The length, width and height of the five-door car were 4,280, 1,699, and 1,501 mm respectively and the ride height was 150. The boot capacity reached 368 l, its maximum load capacity was 411 kg. The front axle of the car was equipped with ventilated brake discs and the rear axle – with the solid ones.
Main versions
The Honda Civic VII hatchbacks (the EU, EP, EV) were offered in 10 versions. There were petrol and diesel vehicles as well as with front-wheel or all-wheel drive.
The most popular among them was the 1.6 MT model with front-wheel drive. It was equipped with a 4-cylinder, 16-valve straight engine with multi-point fuel injection. The engine power was 110 hp, its maximum torque was 152 Н·м at the 4,300 rpm. The maximum speed of the car reached 187 kph. It accelerated from 0 to 100 kph in 10.3 sec. The fuel consumption of the vehicle was 8.7 l in an urban area, 5.5 l on a highway and 6.7 l in the mixed cycle per 100 km.

Apart from the base, there were also extended trims available: E, S, VTEC S, Inspire, Vision, SE, Max, Inspire S, Imagine, VTEC SE, SE Sport, VTEC SE Executive, Sport, VTEC SE Executive Limited Edition, VTEC Executive, LX, EX Special Edition. Standard equipment of all Honda Civic VII hatchbacks (2000–2005) had ABS, front airbags, front power windows.
The Inspire trim included air conditioning, audio system with a Cd-player and power heated side mirrors. There were also side airbags.
