The Ford Mondeo Mk3 BWY estate was 4,804 mm long, 1,812 mm wide, and 1,481 mm high. The luggage compartment capacity varied between 540 and 1,700 litres. The ground clearance equalled 175 mm. The 2.0 TDCi AT version was one of the most popular. Its 16-valve engine with two camshafts outputted 115 hp. The max torque of the power unit was 280 N⋅m. Common Rail direct fuel injection system and variable-geometry turbocharger improved the vehicle dynamics while maintaining the optimal fuel consumption. The car consumed 10.4 litres of fuel per 100 km of travel in the urban cycle, 7.6 litres – in the combined cycle, 6 litres – in the extra-urban cycle. The fuel injection pump was outstandingly reliable. It served long and faultlessly even if poor-quality fuel was used. The car accelerated from 0 to 100 km/h in 13 seconds and was able to drive at the speed of 192 km/h. The loading capacity equalled 619 kg.
A 5-speed automatic transmission with electronic control, called Durashift, was installed on the car. It had different operation modes, such as sportive or ECO.
Trim levels of Mondeo Mk3 BWY
The following trim levels were offered for Mondeo Mk3 BWY estate: Ambiente, Trend, Futura, Ghia, Titanium, Ghia X, Titanium X, Futura X. The sports version ST220 had its own equipment list. Moreover, there were limited series – First, Collection, Centennial, Cool, Navigator and others.
The standard equipment included front, side and head airbags, active headrests, brand intelligent protection system IPS, trip computer, cruise control, air conditioner or climate control.
