Technical characteristics of Toyota RAV4 II (XA20)
Length, width and height of the 3-door body were 3805 mm, 1735 mm and 1670 mm, respectively. Road clearance equalled 180 mm. The capacity of the luggage compartment was 150 litres, and it increased to 766 litres with the rear seats folded. The 5-door car was 395 mm longer, and its luggage compartment capacity was 400–1730 litres. The remaining parameters were the same as those of the 3-door car.
After the restyling, the length of the 3-door car increased to 3850 mm while road clearance became 20 mm larger. Dimensions of the 5-door crossover also changed: its length was now 4245 mm, width – 1785 mm, height – 1680 mm. Road clearance equalled 200 mm. Other characteristics of the vehicles remained unchanged.
Main versions
Overall, more than 10 front- and all-wheel-drive versions of Toyota RAV4 II (XA20) cars were produced. They included diesel and petrol versions.
2.0 AT, an AWD version, had good dynamic characteristics. It was equipped with a 4-cylinder 16-valve in-line petrol engine with port fuel injection. Engine output – 150 hp, max torque – 192 N·m at 4000 rpm. Top speed of the crossover reached 185 km/h and it accelerated to 100 km/h in 10.6 seconds. Fuel consumption per 100 km was 11.4 litres in the urban cycle, 7.6 litres – in the extra-urban cycle and 9.3 litres – in the combined cycle.
Trim levels of RAV4 II (XA20)
There were a basic and a few extended trim levels. For instance, the manufacturer offered NV, NRG, GX, VX, Edge, Cruiser, XT2, XT3, XT3 Chrome, XT3 Style, XT4, XT4 Chrome, XT4 Style, XT5, XT5 Style, Granite, XT-R, XT-R Chrome, XT-R Style trims.
The basic trim of RAV4 II (2000–2006) crossover included an anti-lock braking system, front airbags, power side mirrors, front electric windows, roof rails.
Apart from the features listed above, the extended trim, VX, included front fog lights, air conditioner, alloy wheels, power sunroof, sound system with CD-changer. The side mirrors were heated, the rear windows were electric. The seats were trimmed with leather.
