Technical characteristics of Toyota RAV4 I (XA10)
When the model was initially released, the length of the 3-door versions was 3705 mm, width – 1695 mm, height – 1650 mm, road clearance – 205 mm. The luggage compartment capacity was 175 litres and reached 520 litres with the rear seats folded. The 5-door vehicles were 400 mm longer and 10 mm higher. The capacity of its luggage compartment was 409–1790 litres. Other parameters were the same as those of the 3-door car.
After the restyling, the length and height of the 3-door body were 3750 and 1655 mm, respectively, the width didn’t change. Road clearance varied between 185 and 200 mm depending on the version. Dimensions of the 5-door car also changed: the length increased to 4115 mm, width and height depended on a version and were 1695–1760 mm and 1640–1660 mm, respectively. Road clearance was 205 mm.
Main versions
About 10 versions of Toyota RAV4 I (XA10) crossover were produced. They included petrol, diesel and electric versions. Customers could choose a car with front- or all-wheel drive.
2.0 MT, a front-wheel-drive version, was one of the most popular. It had a 4-cylinder 16-valve in-line petrol engine with port fuel injection. Engine output equalled 135 hp, max torque – 181 N·m at 6000 rpm. Fuel consumption figures were: 12 litres per 100 km in the urban cycle, 7.8 litres – in the extra-urban cycle and 9.1 litres – in the combined cycle. Top speed of the vehicle reached 170 km/h. 0 to 100 km/h acceleration time equalled 10.4 seconds.
Trim levels of RAV4 I (XA10)
A few extended trims were offered apart from the basic one. For instance, EX, Freesport, Heat, Sport, Giant, GX Stax, GXS, Max, Edge, Edge Two Tone, GX, VX trim levels could be chosen.
The basic trim of RAV4 I (1994–2000) crossover included front airbags, power side mirrors, electric windows in the front. Apart from the features listed above, the extended trim, Freesport, included alloy wheels and an audio system with CD-support.
