SSANGYONG Kyron SUV cars: technical specifications, versions and trim levels

The SsangYong Kyron: specifications

The SsangYong Kyron crossover is 4,660 mm long, 1,880 mm wide and 1,755 high. It has five seats. The boot capacity is 625 litres, and increases to 2,322 litres with the rear seats folded. Depending on the version, the ground clearance can be 193 to 210 mm.

The front suspension is independent, fitted with two wishbone-shaped arms, and the rear is dependent. The chassis features a frame design which increases the durability of the body and the level of safety in general. Brake discs are mounted onto both axles: ventilated in the front and solid in the rear.

Main versions

Around 10 versions of the SsangYong Kyron crossovers have been produced overall. They have either rear- or all-wheel drive and are equipped with diesel or petrol engines. 5-speed manual and 5-speed automatic are the most common gearbox types.

The M 270 Xdi 4WD is one of the most powerful models. It is equipped with a 5-cylinder, 20-valve turbocharged engine that produces 165 hp. The maximum torque of 340 N⋅m is reached at 1,800 rpm. The vehicle accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in 12.8 seconds and has a top speed of 174 km/h. The fuel consumption per 100 km is 11.6 litres in the urban cycle, 8.3 litres in the extra-urban cycle and 9.5 litres in the combined cycle. The load capacity is 587 kg.

This is an all-wheel-drive model. The front axle is engaged by the driver manually. It is also possible to switch to a low setting but in that mode, the speed must not be higher than 60 km/h.

Kyron: trims

SsangYong Kyron crossovers, depending on the market and year of production, were available with different trim levels including Direct, Sport, Dynamic, and others.

Regardless of their trim package, all vehicles were characterized by a high level of safety. For example, the Sports trim offered an anti-lock braking system with brake force distribution, electronic stability programme and traction control, front, side and head airbags, and a locking differential. It was quite comfortable inside. There is factory-installed remote central locking, power steering, power windows and climate control. The height of the driver seat could be adjusted. A high-quality sound system with 10 speakers means there’s no chance of being bored at the wheel.
