Škoda Octavia I (1U2) specifications

The car had such dimensions: length - 4511 mm, width - 1731 mm and height - 1429 mm. The cabin had 5 seats. Depending on arrangement of rear seats, volume of the luggage compartment varied in the range of 528–1328 litres for front-wheel-drive versions and 428–1228 litres – for all-wheel-drive versions. Road clearance was 150 mm. After the facelift in 2004 length and height of the body became 4507 mm and 1431 mm, while road clearance was reduced to 134 mm.

The front suspension was independent, the rear, depending on a version, was independent or semi-independent. Ventilated brake discs were installed on the vehicle front axle, drums – on the rear.

Main versions

About 20 versions of Škoda Octavia I (1U2) hatchbacks were produced during manufacturing period; most of them were petrol. The cars mostly were front-wheel-drive. There were also all-wheel-drive versions.

1.8 Turbo 20V 4x4 petrol version was one of them. It was equipped with 4-cylinder 20-valve turbo engine with intercooler. Engine put out 150 hp and delivered 210 N⋅m torque at 1750 rpm. This promoted excellent dynamics: the hatchback accelerated to 100 km/h in 9.5 seconds and could reach speeds of up to 211 km/h. Fuel consumption was 7 litres in extra-urban cycle, 8.8 litres – in combined cycle and 12 litres – in urban cycle. Loading capacity was 580 kg.

Trim levels of Octavia I (1U2)

Before the facelift in 2004 Škoda Octavia I hatchbacks were produced in three main trim levels: LX, GLX and SLX. Later they were replaced with Classic, Ambiente and Elegance. Moreover, special lists of equipment were offered for limited editions, such as Business, Laurin & Klement, Family, Collection, Rider, Celebration, Drive, RS-WRC, Limited GT and Sport.

Laurin & Klement trim level included 16-inch light alloy wheel rims, headlights washer, power panoramic roof, cruise- and climate-control, heated front seats. The car featured beige leather interior. Parking sensors were also factory-installed. The central armrests were available for front and rear seats.
