SAAB 9-3 Saloon (YS3F) cars: technical specifications, versions and trim levels
The Saab 9-3 saloons (YS3F) are five-seat compact executive cars which were assembled between 2002 and 2015 in Sweden. They featured an elegant design, a wide range of equipment, excellent performance and high level of safety. The Saab 9-3 saloons (YS3F): specifications
The cars were 4635 mm long, 1762 mm wide and 1466 mm high. The interior was spacious enough to accommodate a driver and four passengers. The luggage compartment volume was 425 litres. The ground clearance was 140 mm.
Both suspensions were independent: the front one was of MacPherson type, the rear – of a multi-link type. The latter had passive rear-wheel steering which ensured excellent steerability. Both axles of the vehicle were fitted with brake discs.
Streamlines prevailed in the exterior. The drag coefficient was only 0.28.
Main versions
Over the years of production, there were about 30 versions of the Saab 9-3 saloons (YS3F). They included both diesel and petrol models. They mainly had a front-wheel drive.
One of the most powerful versions was 2.0 Turbo. It was equipped with a 4-cylinder 16-valve engine with a turbocharger, intercooler and multipoint fuel injection system. The power unit produced 210 hp. The maximum torque was 300 N⋅m. It was reached at 2500 revolutions per minute. The car was characterised by excellent performance. It accelerated from 0 to 100 kph in just 7.5 seconds. The maximum speed reached 235 kph. To cover the distance of 100 km, the saloon consumed 11.8 litres of petrol in the urban cycle, 8.5 litres in the combined cycle and 6.6 litres in the extra-urban cycle. It had a front-wheel drive. It was equipped with a 6-speed manual transmission. The load capacity was 545 kg.
The version could also boast 17-inch alloy wheel rims with low profile tyres and ventilated brake discs on both axles.
9-3 (YS3F) cars trim levels
The Saab 9-3 saloons (YS3F) were available in the following trims: Linear, Arc, Vector, Solid, Business, Aero, Optic, Exklusiv, Norden and many others.
The equipment was rich. The Vector trim offered a variety of electronic systems: stability system, traction control, emergency brake assist. There were front and side multi-stage inflatable airbags. Curtain airbags were included in the base equipment as well. They had sports seats which provided lumbar support and were fitted with active head restraints. Heated seats were also available as a standard option. Power seats were offered for an extra charge. Leather was widely used in the interior trimming.
