The hatchbacks were 3600 mm long, 1654 mm wide, and 1470 mm high. The car had 4 seats. Its road clearance equalled 120 mm.
The rear and front passenger seats had folding backs, which allowed using the inner space with maximum efficiency. For instance, the luggage compartment capacity was usually 230 litres, but it could be increased to 951 litres if necessary. Two separate rear seats were installed in more expensive trim levels.
The front suspension was independent, the rear – semi-independent. Brake discs were installed on the front axle of the vehicle, and the rear axle usually had drums. But some versions, sports ones, for instance, had discs on all wheels.
Main versions
Overall, more than 10 versions of Renault Twingo II (CN0_) were released. All of them were front-wheel-drive. This generation featured an innovation – diesel engines, which weren’t offered for the first generation. They were very popular, mostly due to their fuel-efficiency.
For instance, 1.5 dCi ECO2 version, equipped with a turbocharged 4-cylinder 8-valve engine with Common Rail fuel injection system, consumed only 3.2 litres in the extra-urban cycle, 3.4 litres – in the combined cycle and 4.4 litres – in the urban cycle. At the same time, the car had good dynamic characteristics: its 85 hp engine delivering 200 N⋅m of torque was able to accelerate the car to 100 km/h in 11.2 seconds. The loading capacity of this version was 457 kg, top speed – 185 km/h.
Trim levels of Twingo II (CN0_)
A vast selection of trim levels was offered for Renault Twingo II (CN0_) hatchbacks because apart from standard and sport versions it was produced in several limited series. The most popular trim levels were Authentique, Expression, Yahoo!, Dynamique, GT, Initiale, Gordini, RS and others.
The cars of the limited series impressed with the especially eye-catching design. For example, the seats of Night & Day hatchbacks were trimmed with fabric with floral print. The same pattern was adorning the body pillars, door trim panels, bumper and car keys. The central pillar, part of the bumper and door handles of Dolce Vita cars were painted gold, while the car itself and wheel rims were black.
As for the equipment, it was rich for all cars and included an anti-lock braking system with brake force distribution, side impact protection system, trip computer and 6 airbags even in the basic trim.
