The Porsche Cayman (981) cars are sports coupes which were produced from 2013 to 2016. They were introduced at the 2012 Geneva International Motor Show. The body type was two-seater. Polish sportsman Ernie Jakubowski, driving a sports version, was the first to finish the SCCA Challenge in the GTS class in 2010. The Porsche Cayman (981): specifications
The length of the body was 4,380 mm, the width was 1,801 mm, and the height was 1,294 mm. The ride height was 109 mm. The maximum load capacity was 335 kg. The luggage compartment volume ranged from 150 to 275 l.
The suspensions of the coupe were independent: front – of the MacPherson type, rear – of the multi-link type. The manufacturer used Porsche Active Suspension Management (PASM), the electronic damping control system. Ventilated brake discs were mounted onto both axles.
Main versions
There were four rear-wheel drive petrol versions of the Porsche Cayman (981). These cars had a mid-engine layout.
One of the most powerful versions was GTS 3.4 PDK with a seven-speed semi-automatic transmission and dual-clutch system. The vehicle was equipped with a 6-cylinder, 24-valve boxer engine with direct fuel injection system. The power unit produced 340 hp, its maximum torque was 380 N·m at 4,700 rpm. The fuel consumption per 100 km was 11.4 l in the urban cycle, 6.3 l in the extra-urban cycle and 8.2 l in the combined cycle. The maximum speed of the coupe reached 281 kph. It accelerated from 0 to 100 kph in 4.9 seconds.
Cayman (981): trim levels
Apart from the base trim, there were several extended ones; for example, GT4, GTS, S, Black Edition. The factory-installed range of equipment of the Porsche Cayman coupes (981; 2013–2016) included air conditioning, ABS, a sound system with a CD player, car alarm, front and side airbags as well as a traction control system. There were electric heated side mirrors, power windows and adjustable steering column. These cars were also fitted with sports seats.
The GTS extended trim offered headlight washers. There were leather power seats with lumbar support.
