Technical characteristics of Peugeot 106 I (1A, 1C)
The hatchbacks were 3,564 mm long, 1,590 mm wide and 1,369 mm high. Volume of the luggage compartment varied from 215 to 564 litres depending on the position of rear seats. Both suspensions were independent. They perfectly absorbed road irregularities, thus providing high comfort level to the driver and passengers. The interior was 5-seater.

1.4 XSI was one of the most powerful, dynamic and fuel-efficient versions. It had a 4-cylinder 8-valve engine with 117 N⋅m torque and 95 hp output. A combined injection and ignition system Motronic ensured for excellent dynamic performance and fuel consumption. The car accelerated to 100 km/h in 10 seconds. Its top speed was 187 km/h. Average fuel consumption was 7.4 litres per 100 km. Payload capacity of the hatchback reached 455 kg. A 5-speed manual transmission was installed on the car.
Trim levels of 106 I (1A, 1C)
A number of trim levels were offered for the Peugeot 106 I (1A, 1C) hatchbacks: N, R, S or T. A trim level was noted in a version name together with an engine type and other information. Moreover, the cars were produced in limited series, including Chamonix, Crystal, Dixie, Husky, Jeans, Jet, Kenwood, Kid, Long Beach, Midnight, New Look, Palm Beach, Rallye, Roland Garros, Zenith, Teddy and others.
The S trim level had extended wheel arches, a tachometer, an oil level sensor and sports seats. The windscreen wiper blades were able to operate in the intermittent mode. The windows were tinted. The central locking system with remote control was factory-installed.
