Technical specifications of Opel Meriva B
Compared to the previous generation, the length and width of the car increased to 4,288 mm and 1,912 mm respectively, the height was reduced to 1,615 mm. The car was still a 5-seater, so the interior became even more spacious. There was more legroom for passengers on the rear seats. The luggage compartment capacity varied between 400 and 1,500 litres.
The FlexDoors, rear-hinged side doors that open at 84°, were the distinctive feature of these cars. They helped to get inside with comfort. Moreover, they created a safe zone while getting out, because adults on the front seats and children on the rear were not separated by a door. The door had an automatic locking function activated at the speed of 4 km/h in order to prevent unprompted opening.
Main versions
14 versions of the second-generation Opel Meriva were produced: 5 diesel and 5 petrol ones – before the restyling in 2004, 3 petrol and 1 diesel version – after it.
The 1.6 CDTI ecoFLEX MT diesel version was the most fuel-efficient and eco-friendly. Fuel consumption was moderate: 4.2 litres in the extra-urban cycle, 4.4 litres – in the combined cycle, 4.8 – in urban conditions. The version had «Start-Stop» system, which optimizes engine operation, fitted as standard.
