Technical specifications of Opel Frontera B 6B_
The SUV has slightly different dimensions compared to its predecessor. Its length, width and height were 4,658 mm, 1,787 mm, and 1,740 mm respectively. The luggage compartment capacity equalled 389 – 1,790 litres. Road clearance became higher and reached 208 mm, which increased the vehicle’s off-road performance. As before, the vehicle was a 5-seater.
One of the main technical novelties for this car was the electronic all-wheel drive control. It allowed powering the front axle without stopping, at the speeds of up to 100 km/h. They started installing ventilated brake discs on both the front and the rear axle of the vehicle.
Main versions
7 versions of Opel Frontera B (1998–2004) were released over the production years: 3 petrol and 4 diesel versions. The petrol version 3.2 V6 24V was the most powerful.
It had a 6-cylinder 24-valve V-engine with the torque of 290 N⋅m and the top speed of 5,400 rpm. Its power output was 205 hp. The car reached 100 km/h in 10.7 seconds and could travel at the speed of 184 km/h. This version had a 5-speed manual transmission as standard, with 4-speed automatic gearbox available as an option. The fuel consumption was significant: 10.5 litres per 100 km in extra-urban cycle, 13.2 litres – in the combined cycle, 18 litres – in urban conditions.
Trim levels of the Frontera B_
The list of standard equipment was significantly expanded for the second generation of Frontera B_ SUVs. For instance, the most powerful version – 3.2 V6 24V – had an anti-lock braking system, front airbags, front power windows, air-conditioner, cruise-control, trip computer, power steering and CD-changer even in the base trim. Power wing mirrors were heated, and the windows were tinted. Paid options included heated seats, a navigation system, power sunroof, and leather-trimmed steering wheel.
