Mercedes-Benz Vito W639 (2003–2014) minivans were produced with the standard and extended wheelbase which could be 3,200 mm and 3,430 mm correspondingly. The car length varied in the 4,748–5,223 mm range. The width of all versions was 1,906 mm. The height could be 1,872 mm or 1,942 mm. The luggage compartment volume could be 430 litres, 730 litres, 970 litres depending on the version. The maximum gross weight of the minivans reached 2,940 kg.
The rear seats could be moved 2.5 cm backwards, which allowed to adjust them taking into account each passenger’s needs. As necessary, the seats could be removed or turned by 180°. The side door was sliding, the rear one was a hinged door. The suspension was independent. All brakes were of the disc type. Particularly, ventilated brake discs were installed on the front axle.

Totally 66 versions of the Vito W639 minivan were produced over the manufacturing years: 33 diesel and 12 petrol versions before the restyling in 2010, 21 diesel and 3 petrol versions – after it. Moreover, the electric Vito E-Cell was released in a small edition of 100 car units. It was equipped with a 70 kW 280 Nm engine. The maximum speed of this minivan was limited to 80 km/h by the electronic limiter. The car’s cruising range was 130 km. Charging the battery from a conventional socket took averagely 12 hours; when using a 400V socket, it took 6 hours. The passenger compartment was designed for 7 people. The payload capacity of the version was 900 kg, the maximum gross weight – 3,050 kg. The car had a front-wheel drive, unlike the rest versions which often were rear-wheel driven, rarely - AWD.

The cars had a rich standard equipment set. At factory, they were equipped with front airbags, seat belts with pretensioners, anti-lock braking system, anti-slip regulation, brake force distribution, brake assist and electronic stability control systems. Offered optionally was an air suspension which maintained the ride height at the set level, heated power mirrors, light sensor, and other equipment.
