Technical specifications of Mazda MX-5 II (NB)
The car body had the following dimensions: the length – 3,945 mm, the width – 1,678 mm, the height – 1,228 mm. The road clearance was 140 mm. The luggage compartment could house objects with a total volume of 144 litres. The maximum loading capacity before the restyling was 240 kg, and 245 kg – after it. The drag coefficient was 0.36.
The manufacturer installed disc brakes on both vehicle’s axles, besides, the front brake discs were ventilated. The car was equipped with an independent double wishbone suspension. The roadsters with Bilstein shock absorbers were produced in a limited edition.
Main versions
More than 10 versions were presented during the period of manufacturing of the car. All of them were petrol and rear-wheel driven.
The 1.8 MT, one of the most popular versions, was equipped with an in-line 4-cylinder engine with a multipoint fuel injection system and turbocharger. The output of the power unit was 181 hp. The max torque was 225 Nm at 4,500 rpm. The cars with this motor could accelerate to 100 km/h in 6.5 seconds.
Trim levels of MX-5 II (NB)
The manufacturer offered the basic and a few extended trim levels. The basic trim included front airbags, an audio system with 4 speakers and a cassette player, power windows, power mirrors, the central lock and immobilizer. The steering wheel was leather-trimmed.
In 1999 the manufacturer produced a limited edition of the car in the10th Anniversary trim. Its safety equipment included an ABS. Moreover, the cars of the 10th Anniversary trim got a BOSE audio system, 15-inch alloy wheel rims, and an exclusive body colour Innocent Blue Mica. For interior trimming, black leather and blue alcantara were used. Stylish dual-colour seats blended well with the steering wheel trimmed in the same way.
