Lancia Y (840) cars are 3-door 5-seat hatchbacks, which were produced from 1995 till 2003. In 2000 they underwent restyling. Due to their unusual exterior and variety of interior colour solutions they were popular with Italian customers. The Italian specialist Enrico Fumia was responsible for the design. Technical specifications of Lancia Y (840)
The car’s dimensions didn’t change during the manufacturing years. The length, width and height of the body were 3,725 mm, 1,690 mm and 1,440 mm respectively. The volume of the luggage compartment was 215 litres and could be increased to 910 litres with the folded rear seats.
Brake discs were installed on the vehicle’s front axle. Drum braking mechanisms were used on the rear axle.
Main versions
Lancia Y (840) cars were available in 6 petrol versions. The manufacturer offered the hatchbacks with a front-wheel drive only.
The 1.2 MT version was one of the most popular. It was equipped with a 4-cylinder 16-valve in-line engine with the multipoint fuel injection system. The engine output was 86 hp, the maximum torque – 113 Nm at 4,500 rpm. The top speed of the car was 177 km/h. It accelerated to 100 km/h in 10 seconds. Per 100 km in urban cycle the hatchback consumed 9 litres of fuel and 5 litres – in extra-urban cycle.
Trim levels of Y (840)
Apart from the basic trim level, LE, a few extended trims were offered. Among them were LS, LX, Elefantino Rosso, Cosmopolitan, Unica, Nuova LS, DoDo, Vanity.
Lancia Y 840 (1995–2003) hatchbacks had factory-installed central lock and power windows. An air conditioner, heated power mirrors, alloy wheel rims and roof hatch were offered optionally.
The LX trim included an anti-lock braking system, front and side airbags. Also the car was equipped with a Blaupunkt audio system and satellite navigation system.
