The Kia Picanto I (BA) car is a 5-door hatchback that was produced by the South Korean corporation Kia Motors from 2004 to 2011. It could seat five people. It debuted in 2003 at the Frankfurt Motor Show. Kia Picanto I (BA) technical specifications
The body was initially 3495 mm long, 1595 mm wide and 1480 mm high. The ground clearance was 160 mm. The luggage compartment volume was 220 litres and increased to 882 litres with the rear seats folded.
After the first restyling, the car’s length was 3535 mm. The ground clearance decreased to 145mm, and volume of the luggage compartment to 157 litres. The other specifications remained the same.
The front car axle was equipped with ventilated brake discs. The rear axle was equipped with drum brakes.
Main versions
Six FWD versions of Kia Picanto I (BA) were produced in total. Petrol, diesel and hybrid cars were available. The latter could run on petrol and liquefied petroleum gas.
The 1.1 D MT diesel version was one of the most fuel-efficient. It was equipped with a 4-cylinder 8-valve in-line engine with an output of 75 hp. The maximum torque was 153 N·m at 2750 rpm. The car’s maximum speed was 154 km/h and acceleration was 0 to 100 km/h in 15.1 seconds. Fuel consumption was 4.9 litres per 100 km in the urban cycle, 3.8 litres in the extra-urban cycle and 4.2 litres in the combined cycle.
Picanto I (BA) trim levels
The manufacturer offered many trims, including 1, 2, 3, S, GS, Spice, Zipp, Zapp, Date, LS, 2 IPD, Chill, Domino, Glamour, Strike, Ice, Red, Graphite, SE, LX, Zipp+ and SE+. All Kia Picanto I (2004–2011) hatchbacks had factory-installed ABS, front airbags and an audio system with a CD player. ESP was available as an optional extra from 2008 onwards.
The Domino extended trim level included air-conditioning, front fog lights, steel rims, front power windows and an adjustable steering wheel.
