Technical specifications of Ford Ka RU8

Compared to the previous generation, Ford Ka RU8 hatchback became wider and higher. Its dimensions were 3,620 mm, 1,658 mm, and 1,505 mm (length, width, and height respectively). The luggage compartment capacity increased to 224 litres with non-folded rear seats and 747 litres – with folded. Road clearance remained the same – 140 mm.

The manufacturer fitted an anti-roll bar to the rear axle and used softer springs which allowed re-adjusting the dampers for better shock absorption when driving on poor-quality roads.

Main versions

Only two engines were available for these cars: the petrol Duratec 1.2 and diesel Duratorq TDCi 1.3.

The diesel version was very fuel-efficient. Its 75 hp 4-cylinder 16-valve engine produced the torque of 145 N⋅m. Turbocharging and Common Rail fuel injection improved vehicle dynamics. Acceleration to 100 km/h took 13.1 seconds. The top speed reached 161 km/h. Fuel consumption didn’t exceed 5.1 litres per 100 km in the urban cycle, 4.2 litres – in the combined cycle, 3.7 litres – in the extra-urban cycle. The loading capacity of the version equalled 460 kg.

Trim levels of Ka RU8

The following trim levels were available for Ka RU8 (2008–2016) hatchbacks: Trend, Ambiente and Titanium. Moreover, the customers could choose from several option packages: Grand Prix, Grand Prix II and Grand Prix III Digital, Tattoo, Metal and others. Cars of limited series, like Vita, Iconic, Champions Edition, etc., had a special equipment set.
