Technical characteristics of Citroën C5 I (DE_)
Citroën C5 I (DE_) was 4760 mm long, 1770 mm wide, and 1520 mm high. Depending on whether the rear seats were folded, the luggage compartment capacity varied between 563 and 1658 litres. The car had 5 seats.
The hydro-pneumatic suspension was characterized by simplicity and reliability. It could operate in two modes: Sport and Comfort. This suspension ensured a smooth ride, prevented body roll at cornering, and nose diving at acceleration and braking. Depending on driving conditions, road clearance varied from 145 to 200 mm. The current value was displayed on the multi-functional screen, installed on the central console.
The body featured excellent resistance to corrosion, the interior had high-quality sound-proofing. Vented brake discs were installed on the front axle of the vehicle and solid discs – on the rear one.
Main versions
About 20 versions of Citroën C5 I (DE_) estate cars were produced during the manufacturing years, most of them were diesel. All of them were front-wheel-drive.
2.0 HDi (110 hp) diesel version had balanced characteristics. Its 4-cylinder 8-valve engine was equipped with a turbocharger and reached the max torque of 250 N⋅m at 1750 rpm which ensured good dynamics. The car accelerated to 100 km/h in 11.6 seconds. Its top speed reached 187 km/h. Max loading capacity equalled 625 kg. Common Rail fuel injection system provided optimal fuel consumption. The estate consumed 4.6 litres of fuel per 100 km in the extra-urban cycle, 7.6 litres – in the urban cycle and 5.7 litres – in the combined cycle.
Trim levels of C5 I (DE_)
Citroën C5 (2001‒2004) estate cars were produced in various trim levels; the most popular of them were X, SX, Exclusive, Prestige, Seduction, Difference, Essentielle.
With the Essentielle trim level, the car featured dual-stage front, side and curtain airbags. The boot lid was automatically locked at start off. Air conditioner, power steering, central locking, the anti-lock braking system with force distribution were all standard. The driver seat was height-adjustable and provided good lumbar support. The rear seats were equipped with headrests. Trip computer and audio system were also included in the factory-installed equipment.
