Technical specifications of Audi A8 (D3, 4E)
Considerable dimensions of the saloon (5,051 mm long, 1,894 mm wide and 1,444 mm high) and reduced capacity of the luggage compartment allowed to make even more legroom for the rear seats passengers. L versions with a longer wheelbase featured even bigger dimensions: 5,187 mm, 1,894 mm and 1,455 mm, respectively. After the facelift of 2005, the length of the saloon with a short wheelbase was extended up to 5,062 mm. The length and height of the L versions were also changed to 5,192 mm and 1,455 mm, respectively.

There were 35 versions of the Audi A8 (D3, 4E) made during the production years: 8 petrol, 3 diesel ones between 2002 and 2005, 8 petrol, 4 diesel ones between 2005 and 2007, 8 petrol and 4 diesel ones between 2007 and 2010.
One of the most interesting versions is a petrol 6.0 L W12 tiptronic quattro. Its 12-cylinder, 48-valve W-engine with the torque of 580 N⋅m had the output of 450 hp. The saloon accelerated to 100 km/h in 5.2 seconds and it reached the maximum speed of 250 km/h in less than 30 seconds. The fuel consumption per 100 km in an urban area, mixed cycle and on a highway was 20.1 l, 13.6 l and 9.8 l, respectively, and its carrying capacity was 550 kg.
The brand 6-speed transmission with dynamic shift program and possibility to switch to the manual mode helped to use the engine power as efficient as possible. The car body of this version was armoured. Electronic systems included the emergency exit system, fire extinguisher with nozzles, smoke protection system. Those, who decided to buy a 6.0 L W12 tiptronic quattro version, were offered to send two drivers to take special training courses.
Trim packages of Audi A8 (D3, 4E)
A8 (D3, 4E) saloons were mostly manufactured with the base trim which could be extended with extra options. There was also an improved package called Advance, and Pro Line and Pro Line + packages were offered in some markets. The base package of the car featured six airbags, two-zone climate control, cruise control. The navigation system and parking sensors could be ordered for an extra charge.
