Engine oil pump for the top car models
Engine oil pump for my car: your guide to buying oil pump online
The oil pump is required for pumping the engine oil from the sump into the oil circuit. It is very important for the lubrication of car engine. If you want that car oil doesn’t contain any unwanted particles, the oil filter is located directly behind the pump in the circulation. Most internal combustion engines have a gear pumps. They work on the displacement principle. The oil is brought through the gears in motion. This simple principle has proven itself. The oil pump can be incorporated into the crankcase with the oil pan. Sometimes, it can also be installed separately on the engine block.
The function of the oil pump can be checked with an oil pressure gauge. The measuring device is installed in the place of an oil pressure switch. It is not possible to make a diagnosis without this tool. Design of oil pumps allows them work for a whole life of car. Only at very high mileage, it is possible that the oil pump wear suffered by a defect. In rare cases, damage can also result from a defect in material. The expansion of an oil pump is very expensive, as well as the installation of a spare part.
Therefore, an oil pump can be replaced by a specialist workshop. The oil pump can not be replaced without the prior measurement of oil pressure. In addition, all other possible problems are checked before its replacement. Gaskets may also be the cause of too low pressure. If you thnk that your oil pump is defective, you can buy a high quality replacement part in our store. Our online store has many other car parts. You will find also a brake disc, brake blocks, a starter/ starter, drive shaft, a mirror and a brake drum. If you are looking for a car spare part for your car, you will find it here.
How to detect oil pump failure
Oil level should be checked at least once a month. First, inspect the pump sprocket. The component should not be worn or damaged due to mechanical impact. Next, unscrew the bolts of the pressure relief valve piston, and remove the component. Check if the gears and casing are not damaged. After that, check the level of springs wear and filter clogging.
You may notice that the oil pump may need diagnostics by the following symptoms:
- components are insufficiently lubricated;
- parts of the engine get overheated;
- oil pressure in the lubrication system dropped.
The reasons of oil pump malfunction
The intermediate component between the crankcase and the pump through which oil flows is the oil suction pipe. Dirty crankcase could be a factor which entails clogging of the suction pipe and fast deterioration of the pump efficiency. Using poor quality oil and its low level also provoke fast deterioration of the component.
Failure to replace oil according to the prescribed schedule, or operating the vehicle on dusty terrain may lead to premature wear of the component. It also results in dirt accumulation on the surface of the pressure relief valve and its jamming.
The reason for mechanical damage of the gears may become the force impact due to collision or hitting an obstacle. It often happens that the pump fails due to extreme driving style and frequent off-road driving at high speeds.
Oil pump repair
In case of minor faults, the component may be repaired. First, disassemble the pump and evaluate the condition of the pressure relief valve, then thoroughly clean it. The component itself should be rinsed in gasoline and coated with oil. If the crankcase is fouled, drain oil and rinse the pan and the suction pipe.
Oil pump replacement
On the average, service life of the pump is 150,000 km of mileage. If efficiency of the component is low, it should be replaced. To dismantle the pump, remove the pan and unscrew the pump fastening bolts. Next, remove the oil suction pipe.Rinse the pan, and replace its gasket. To install a new pump, repeat the same steps in reverse order. Finally, fasten the engine mounts and fill the engine with new oil.
