Volkswagen Touran I 1T1, 1T2 cars are five- and seven-seat minivans, debut of which was in 2003 and production continued till 2010. In 2006 the model was restyled, after that 1T1 index was replaced with 1T2. The car was the first company’s minivan built on the Golf platform. Due to the spacious cabin and high fuel-efficiency it gained popularity as a taxi in Austria and Germany, in 2010 it was declared the most eco-friendly seven-seat family car in Germany. Technical characteristics of Volkswagen Touran I 1T1, 1T2
The car differed by compact sizes for a vehicle of its class: its length was 4391 mm, width – 1794 mm, height – 1652 mm. A huge luggage compartment, volume of which varied from 667 to 1989 liters, allowed to transport rather big cargo. 120 mm road clearance provided road stability for the minivan. Ventilated brake discs on the front axle and non-ventilated ones on the rear axle together with innovative electronic systems provided almost immediate stop of the car even in extreme situation. The minivan was a little longer and lower after restyling of 2006: its new dimensions were 4407 and 1635 mm accordingly.
Main modifications
Totally during production years 45 modifications of Volkswagen Touran 1T1, 1T2 (2003–2010) were produced: 6 petrol and 11 diesel ones for pre-restyled model, 6 petrol and 10 diesel modifications for cars after 2006, and 6 petrol, 6 diesel ones for minivans in off-road design Cross.
There were engines working on liquefied methane in the engine line. They were equal to petrol power units technical characteristics. For example, 2.0 Ecofuel MT modification, which was equipped with 4-cylinder 16-valve turbocharged engine, developed power of 109 hp. Time of accelerating to 100 km/h was 9 seconds, and maximum speed was 180 km/h. Herewith, fuel consumption didn’t exceed 4.5 liters on the highway, 5.7 liters in combined cycle, and 8.1 liters in the city. Car carrying capacity was 617 kg.
Configurations of Volkswagen Touran I 1T1, 1T2
The car was offered in three basic configurations – Conceptline, Trendline and Highline. There were also offered individual equipping variants for limited series. Car basic configuration included front and side airbags for a driver and all passengers, also the electronic stability control system. The air-conditioner was offered as basic equipment in Trendline configuration.
