SUZUKI Swift II Hatchback (EA, MA) cars: technical specifications, versions and trim levels
Suzuki Swift II (EA, MA) cars are 3- and 5-door small hatchbacks which were produced from 1989 to 2005. They were initially manufactured in Japan and later in Hungary. The hatchback was characterized by its compact dimensions, low weight and fuel efficiency. It had a high safety level: in the Euro NCAP tests in 2005 it won 4 of 5 stars. Suzuki Swift II (EA, MA) technical specifications
Suzuki Swift II (EA, MA) hatchbacks were restyled a few times. Thus, their sizes slightly differed depending on a production year. For instance, the length of the 3-door car was 3710–3745 mm, width 1575–1590 mm and height 1350 mm. The 5-door hatchbacks were 3845mm long, 1575 mm wide and 1380 mm high.
The cabins of both vehicles had 5 seats. Depending on the rear seat configuration, the volume of the luggage compartment varied from 250 to 900 litres. The ground clearance was 160 mm.
Both suspensions were independent: the front had MacPherson strut and the rear was multi-link. Ventilated brake discs were installed on the vehicle’s front axle and drum brakes on the rear.
Main versions
More than ten versions of the Suzuki Swift II (EA, MA) were produced during the manufacturing period. All of them had petrol engines. Most were front-wheel-drive, but four-wheel-drive versions were also available.
The 1.3 GTi sports version had the best dynamic characteristics. It was equipped with a 4-cylinder 16-valve DOHC engine. It had an output of 101 hp. The maximum torque of 113 N⋅m was reached at 4950 rpm. The car accelerated from 0 to 100 km/h in 8.6 seconds. Its top speed was 182 km/h. The average fuel consumption was 6.9 litres per 100 km in the combined cycle. The maximum loading capacity was 470 kg. The car had a 5-speed manual transmission and front-wheel drive. This version had brake discs installed on all wheels.
Swift II (EA, MA) trim levels
Depending on the market and production year, Swift II (EA, MA) hatchbacks were offered in the following trim levels: GA, GLX, GL, GC, Summum and Spirit. The GTi sport version had its own list of equipment.
The GTi trim included racing seats, a driver’s airbag, power steering, front electric windows, fog lights, a tachometer and electric wing mirrors. The bumpers were painted in the body colour, the windows were tinted and the rear seats were split-folding.
