Main versions
More than 10 versions of Suzuki Samurai (SJ) SUVs were produced during the manufacturing years. The cars had petrol and diesel power units, rear- and four-wheel drive with manually engaged part-time front axle.
1.3 MT version was the most common. It was equipped with 4-cylinder 8-valve engine of 69 hp output. Maximum torque was 100 N⋅m. The version reached 130 km/h speed. Average fuel consumption was 10.8 litres per 100 km. Maximum loading capacity was 390 kg. The car had four-wheel drive. The front axle could be disengaged in order to save fuel while driving on asphalt roads. There was a manual 5-speed transmission.
Trim levels of Samurai (SJ)
Samurai (SJ) SUVs had minimalistic equipment. The manufacturer offered bucket seats, heated side mirrors. Only some versions were equipped with hydraulic power steering. The windscreen wipers had a few operation modes. A full-size spare tyre was factory-installed. Air-conditioning, central armrest, alarm system, mudguards, chrome plated bumpers and off-road lights were offered for an extra charge. Also, one could order alloy wheel rims, pre-wired car stereo harness, cassette player, front fog lights, auxiliary stop light, rear power windows and leather interior trimming.
